A great job to start with if you are new to RBO. Usually this job will be your first job to the last stage because of high attack and high HP. Their speed is normal and they have low SP.

Moving HP Recovery passive HP Recovery (3) Recovers a small amount of HP every 8 seconds. Not affected by sitting.

Gender Differences[]

Other than the common differences such as Males having higher HP and Females having higher SP, as well as skills, the most notable uniqueness are:

  • Male Swordman extremely excels at dealing damage to a single airborne target/or a boss tall enough to take most (if not all) of his aerial onslaught (for example, Orc Hero, Giant Whisper, Marionette, Baphomet, Drake, Dracula)
  • Female Swordman extremely excels at dealing damage to a large group of enemies, as well deal dealing high damage with Magnum Break or even Bash + Second Bash on the ground.
  • Male Swordman can also deal a good short burst of damage with Chain Bash (not Second Bash), but only against a large size boss (because it only deals 75% damage otherwise, making it always weaker than Female's Bash in this case), at the expense of depleting SP extremely quickly. Otherwise, Female Swordman will always deal more damage regardless of her skill choice, be it Bash, Second Bash or Magnum Break.
  • Female Swordman's Bash, Second Bash and Magnum Break are all bug and count as unarmed type. They will deal full damage to any size of enemies, (as opposed to 75% to small and Large enemies that 1 handed sword is supposed to do)
  • Female Swordman leans forward and stretches her arm out as she strikes, making most of her attacks roughly 1.5 times longer reach than that of Male Swordman, despite using at least half the size of his weapon.
  • Female Swordman's (Air)→+B's strike zone is incorrectly set. It will cover the area below her as if she's stretched downward to x3 in height.
  • Female Swordman can do an Aerial Bash
  • Male Swordman can use the Low Pierce.
  • Male Swordman runs while Female Swordman dashes (Guard-cancellable, making her one of the fastest in the game).

Stats Effect[]

Swordman only, other jobs have some different effects for certain stats.

  • STR: Increases MIN and MAX ATK.
  • AGI: Increases animation for every movement and Dodge chance.
  • VIT: Increases max HP, HP regeneration, overall Defense, chance of Super Armor / resistance against flinching.
  • INT: Increases max SP, SP regeneration, and Magic Defense
  • DEX: More MIN ATK damage. Every 10 DEX , you can chain in a combo another Strong Attack.
  • LUK: Increases Critical attacks

Tips[]

  • Inc. HP Recovery is extremely strong when sitting.
  • Do not level the Moving HP Recovery, unless you have already maxed out everything that you need, and have spare skill points. It's way inferior to Inc. HP Recovery in almost every way, and doesn't even work while sitting. The only saving grace is that you can level it after you have maxed Inc. HP Recovery so you can improve your HP while not sitting
  • Magnum Break is a very reliable source of damage, especially for Female Swordman with damage stacking. It's also the most cost efficient when it comes to Damage/SP cost. It can also be used to avoid any incoming attacks during most of its animations.
  • Magnum Break is considered a combo move, and can suffer from combo penalty. You can remove this penalty simply by using B before using Magnum Break (any other heavy attack also work, but a normal B is the most optimal)
  • Provoke can be useful against tough non-boss monsters, but you will need some levels in it to make a significant impact, compared to damage stacking. It can also hit more than 1 target if the monsters are close enough to one another
  • Male Swordman's Tackle is terrible. It might deal more damage than its female's counterpart (on 1 use), but it's extremely slow. Always use other methods if you can help it.
  • Male Swordman's Low Pierce resets combo counter as it lands. You can spam it without worrying about the combo penalty, as long as there's a target. The easiest way is to use it against enemy at the far most of the screen. Otherwise, you can also turn your character around so you can keep bouncing in the same area.
  • Male Swordman's has higher potential DPS than Female Swordman during air combo.
  • Male Swordman's Low Pierce can be used to cancel air combo, removing the combo penalty so you can do more damage in a long air combo.
  • Male Swordman's Low Pierce can be used to immediately stop his ascent while jumping. Use this against short targets
  • Female Swordman should do dash cancel as she moves around, as it's drastically faster - even enough to outrun the camera.
  • Female Swordman's air →+B has insane reach and damage, you can use it both to clear a large group of monsters and deal damage to bosses.
  • Female Swordman's Tackle is one of the best skills in the entire game, and works extremely well with air →+B
  • Female Swordman has much higher dps potential with damage stacking and Magnum Break. Combine with Endure so you can stack longer, then Magnum Break. You can easily deal 40,000 damage on a single use, which will instant kill some bosses.
